About Scot
Scot Laing has been a prominent figure in the UK and Channel Islands Financial Services industries since 1995, specializing in investment portfolio construction and management, driven by a keen interest in global macroeconomics.
Scot began his career in the private client division of Deloitte before moving to Jersey in 1999, where he joined HSBC as an Investment Adviser. By 2000, he was appointed Head of the Rest of World desk, managing a portfolio of High Net Worth private clients. In 2004, Scot transitioned to Ansbacher, a boutique private bank owned by Qatar National Bank, as Head of Investment. Two years later, he was posted to Qatar to establish the first Private Bank within the newly formed Qatar Financial Centre.
Returning to Jersey in 2008, Scot focused on Corporate and Intermediary relationships in the Channel Islands. He joined Rossborough Financial in June 2014 to develop the investment division. From 2010 to 2021, Scot served on the Committee of Management of the States of Jersey Public Employees Contributory Retirement Scheme and was a voting member of the Investment Sub-Committee.
Scot is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment, holds the Chartered Wealth Manager designation and is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP(TM)). His CISI Level 6 Qualifications include Private Client Investment Advice and Management, Pension Transfers & Planning Advice, and the Advanced Certificate in Financial Planning.
Additionally, Scot holds a BA (Hons) in Business Law and Finance, the Financial Planning Certificate, the Investment Management Certificate, and the CII G10 Taxation and Trusts. He also possesses the Advanced Certificate in Anti Money Laundering from the International Compliance Association.
In May 2015, Scot was appointed to the Board of Rossborough Financial and assumed his current role as Managing Director in May 2022.
